It seems fitting that the first Desynit blog entry should relate to a particularly exciting and innovative project the team is currently focusing on. At present our large multinational client operates a standard green screen approach to access their critical business data. The challenge is to introduce a solution which will allow them to access and interact with their data directly and securely from anywhere, using an internet browser.

Our recommendation was to move them to a SOA solution, using the SalesForce platform to communicate with the iSeries based web services. With Desynit’s knowledge of legacy applications modernization, we have been in a unique position to create a prototype system, making their legacy data work with the cutting edge Force.com interface.

We have been able to showcase the hugely improved user experience they could achieve, with an interactive graphical interface. But more importantly, we have demonstrated the way that SOA will open up a whole new business chapter for our client, via improved collaboration and data sharing between customer and suppliers.

While working with technology as new as Salesforce, we have found that some of the best insights and most current practical advice come from personal blogs. With this in mind, we are planning to keep you up to date with our progress, potentially taking green screen technology to the cloud.

You can visit our developer Christopher Lewis’s own site for detailed technical information, hints, tips and Cloud Computing news updates. His most recent post relates to usage of the apex:outputPanel tag.

Check back for further updates on our progress with the Salesforce platform.
