Gary and Chris have just returned from a mind expanding week in San Francisco, attending Dreamforce 2011. Billed as ‘The Cloud Computing Event of the Year’, or alternatively ‘The Largest Conference in the Enterprise Software Industry’, it certainly didn’t disappoint. With 45,000 people registered, and a further 35,000 watching the Salesforce live video broadcast, this was a lot more than just a conference.

The key theme of the conference centred on the transformative effects of social media and the way in which this has fundamentally changed the way in which we collaborate and do business.

Desynit have been working with the Salesforce.com platform and Force.com development language for over two years to deliver successful client projects. From this point of view we were already committed to the benefits of the platform. However, after seeing firsthand the level of innovation in the technology Salesforce.com are unveiling, the opinion here at Desynit now is that this is nothing less than a technology revolution.

In the summing up Q&A with Marc Benioff, Gary reported a senior developer congratulating the Salesforce.com with the following words.

‘‘Thanks for the great job you are doing with Salesforce.com. You are continually innovating and the announcements you made this week are, at best, three years ahead on our own business roadmap.”

Check out Marc Benioff’s opening speech keynote speech here.

Luckily, we registered early and got places at Cloudforce 2011 in London on Thursday 15th September, which was overwhelmingly oversubscribed. Were you there?
