Morning Agenda

2E Platform Modernization

9:00 – 9:30: Arrival and coffee, 9:30 – noon: hands on session

Many CA 2E customers are looking at options around modernizing their valuable legacy systems, but are unsure how to go about it. In this session, participants will get an end to end experience on how modernization works in practice. You will start by analyzing CA 2E model using Databorough X-Analysis, and producing graphical system documentation including ER, UML, and business logic. After that, you will migrate the model and native code to CA Plex. The resulting application will be built and deployed to both Microsoft .NET and IBM Websphere using WebClient for Plex and the YouEye patterns.

This session will be of value to both 2E customers seeking to modernize, and Plex customers who are exploring web deployment and/or .NET.

Lunch – 12:00 – 1:00, provided to all participants

Afternoon Agenda

Refactoring the Plex User Interface

1:00 – 1:30: Arrival, 1:30 – 4:00: hands on session

Many Plex and 2E customers are interested in modernizing their user experience. Several techniques exist, including tab presentations, wizards, and explorer views. More advanced techniques include using dashboards and graphs coupled with workflow systems.  WebClient and YouEye are two new tools that help you accomplish your objectives.

In this session participants will modernize the UI of a typical legacy application, building on the model created in the morning session. The modernized user interface will include a variety of features deployed to both client-server and web, and will include a workflow implementation with web services.

This session will be of value to both 2E customers seeking to modernize, and Plex customers who desire a more advanced UI and web presentation for their existing application.
