“One of the big benefits we got from this engagement was the new perspective on the use of our Plex IDE (particularly the YouEye pattern) that Desynit shared with us from their experience in different environments.”

Software Development Manager,

What versions of CA Plex are supported by YouEye?

The YouEye pattern library is compatible with CA Plex versions 5.5SP1, 6.0 and 6.1.

Is the pattern easy to learn and easy to use?

It's very easy to implement "My Workspace Is a YouEyeFramework". Developers can then convert existing application to work inside YouEye, or write totally new panels and functions. The underlying technology makes it easy to build alternate workspaces, or to provide a boost to existing MDI applications.

What can I do with YouEye?

The opportunities made possible by YouEye are limitless for experienced Plex developers. Also new developers are much more productive when creating user interfaces with YouEye because the approach facilitates a more component based approach resulting in a single complex "document" window being composed of several simple Plex panels. YouEye makes it easy to share data and trigger processing between the panels.

What about the documentation?

The help file may be downloaded from [http://www.desynit.com/YouEyeHelp.zip]

What is the cost?

The pattern library v2.1 is priced at £2,000 + VAT per developer. There is an additional annual maintenance fee of 20% of the list price. Maintenance is payable from day one and provides email support and version upgrades during the year. The customer has the option to renew at the end of each year.

How many licenses do I need?

The number of YouEye developer licences required will need to match the number of Plex licences which a customer owns. The model is secured with a Crypkey licence and we supply the authorisation codes upon request.

Do I need to purchase any 3rd Party Software?

There is no requirement to purchase the 3rd Party ActiveX controls that are used, we provide the redistributable controls which are suitable for code compilation and runtime use. Should a developer wish to alter the custom properties of any of the licensed ActiveX controls within the Plex panel designer, then a developer licence for that control will be required to recompile the panel. We can assist in providing further information and licences on request.

Who uses YouEye?

YouEye v2.1 is currently in use by 7 customers around the world. They have been delighted with the features that YouEye provides them with as they can concentrate on solving business problems for their customers and be confident that the user interface will look fantastic.

Can I see YouEye in action for myself?

If you have not already done so then please download the demo application [http://www.desynit.com/YouEyeDemoKit.zip] which gives an overview of the functionality available.

How can I try out YouEye?

If you then wish to go ahead with a trial of the product please feel free download the latest copy of the pattern from [http://www.desynit.com/YOUEYE2_1.zip] attach the group model as a library to any group model in order to activate the Crypkey licensing and send the site code to support@desynit.com Note: the models are maintained at 5.5SP1 so you need to say “Yes” when asked if you wish to upgrade the model to later versions of CA Plex.
