The Rio Olympics 16 have finally opened and the medals are already stacking up for the participating countries. It has taken months, even years, of disciplined and dedicated hard work to get the Olympians where there are today – they truly are amazing sport wo/men!

Whilst they may be the Olympians of the sporting world, this event has got me musing about our Salesforce champs – Admins, Devs, Consultants and Users. We too put in the hours to become the best at what we do. If we were to show the physical signs of our hard work our fingers and brain would be of olympic stature! With that in mind (minus the image of muscular fingers and brains!) I decided to, in jest, see what our destined Olympic sport would be based on our role characteristics. Obvs.

So to introduce the Rio Olympics, in true Jenny‘s Admin Tip style, let’s raise the flags, sound the National Anthems, and scroll down to see what Olympics sport your role is suited to.*

Olympic Admins

Variety is the spice of life, and when it comes to the Admin role there is an abundance of variety! Whether you are the running Admin for your businesses org, provide swimmingly good Admin support for several orgs or both – we Admins are never two tired to take on new challenges! We are constantly hitting the trails so that we can learn to transition quickly, overcome different obstacles – ultimately be the best in the game. If there was an olympic sport for juggling we Admins would win gold every time. So what sport are Admins aiming to get bronze, silver and gold in?

Olympic Consultants

Ahh, the Consultants. Quick off the mark, these guys don’t hang about to get the job done; and what a job it is too! Determination, a focused mentality, quick thinking and a jump to it attitude, these guys can take on the ups and the downs in a demanding environment. Many obstacles will pop up along the allotted distance, but these guys know how to pace themselves. With practise and a (few) leap(s) of faith, these champs can hop their way to success. If the Steeplechase was an olympic sport, Consultants you’d be in pole position every time. So what Olympic sport are our Consultants jumping to be?

Olympic Developers

When it comes to the Developers, these guys have the mental endurance to work long hours to get the best result. In this tough and demanding job, it doesn’t take long for the pains to show. However, with their unique frame of mind and with motivation and stern encouragement from their teammates, Devs are always steered in the right direction to get the job done. There is nothing that these guys won’t bow out of. Once work have been complete in an oar’dly fashion, and their deployment has been successful  , it’s gold all the way! So what sport are our Devs sprinting to the finishing line in?

Olympic Users

With the Users, slow and steady wins the race. Well maybe not too slow. These guys have plenty of time to access their surroundings, become focused, re-adjust if things get difficult, and adapt accordingly over a long period of time. You may feel like throwing the towel in to begin with, but with the right training you can go all the way. Remember, it’s a game of mind over matter. Mentally, training can go on for miles and the finish line is nowhere to be seen. However, every step taken is closer to you becoming that lean, mean, super user machine! Trust me, you’ll be better off in the long run. So what sport are our Users edging their way to the finish line for?

Hope you enjoyed this folks. Have fun watching the Olympics this summer!

See you next week.

Jenny

*This is not an exact representation of what sport suits you best and I therefore take no responsibility of any sustained injuries – mental or physical. However, if you feel that you could be the next Jessica Ennis then you go for it champ!
