4 things to do with your new Inspo-style blog post

Hey there all star. Welcome to your first inspo, a special kind of blog post that gives you a nice flexible and playful format for listicles, one of our favourite types of article.

This section here is your introduction, it sets up the contents of your list so your reader knows what to expect. We like to add in a litttle POV too, with a sentence that sounds something like “as the lead developer of an independent tech company”, because as a leading web design co, we know your reader needs to trust the source of their info.

Anyway, if you want to know more about listicles, check out our blog on 6 reasons to write listicles; the easiest blogs for your small business or if you want a lil inspiration, here’s Blog SEO: 41 content ideas for your listicle.

Now let’s dive in.

1.
Your first entry
This is diddy text

Welcome to inspo entry number one, have you spotted that you don't need to write "1" yet? Hit that 'Show numbers' toggle in your WordPress back end/editor to show or hide numbers.

And yep, if you re-order your entries with some dragging & dropping, the numbers change automatically.

Another entry goes here

One great feature is that you don't have to fill out all the fields for every entry.  This one skips the image caption, teeny text and link. Soz, no kittens this time.

3.
Let's talk about word count
Did you miss the diddy text too?

A typical blog has a small number of sections that are a bit meaty. Here, we want a higher volume but keep them short and sweet.

Think 1 long sentence, or 2 little ones.

4.
It's the big boy
Make it count

Woah! The fourth entry in your inspo is MASSIVE! Use this spot to keep your reader engaged with the best highlights of your inspo.

You can even include more text with this one if you like too. It's not obligatory, but it's nice to have the option, right?

But what if you wanna make this one big?
Say whhhaaaaaaaa

Just drag and drop it you delectable nectarine. Seriously, head back to the editor and drop this fella right above the previous big boy.

Just have fun with it

Seriously, Inspos are supposed to be a great way to turn your ideas and thoughts and expertise and letters-to-santa into pieces of content that can rank in Google and drive you traffic.

7.
We can totes customise

If an extra field or a tweak to the design would save you oodles of time, give us a shout. We don't charge for 5-minute jobs (as long as you're happy to wait) and can totes quotes for big changes.

But try to end with a full row

Your inspo will look a bit cuter if you end on one of these rows of 3, or an optional big boy. That said, it's your website - have some fun!

And that's *nearly* it, well done matey, you just nailed your first inspo. But. Don't forget the conclusion - ya never wanna leave your reader hanging! An article without a conclusion creates a content cul-de-sac on your website, and end to a user journey that we wanna keep going until they hit subscribe or buy or whatever you want.

I like to write a conclusion that mirrors the introduction, and basically says that you have successfully explained what you set out to explain. Now add a call to action, like suggesting another article to read, or to follow you on social media, or to tuck in to a specific epsiode of the podcast.

And if you're struggling, pop us a message in Slack, it's what we're here for. See, that was one subtle call-to-action. Have a bangin' day. Byeeeeeee.
